Layover
Layover is a cozy station simulation game where the player is caretaker of a small rural train platform. The game is about routines, care, and aesthetic improvement more than expansion or profit. The player maintains and decorates the station, slowly improving its reputation and atmosphere.
Playthrough time: 10-15 minutes.

Watch the trains come and go

Stretch your platform

Buy facilities

Care for your growing station

Love to hear your thoughts!
I’m actively working expanding the game and would love to hear your thoughts. Let me know what you think about the gameplay, visuals, or any other ideas in the comments.

Good vibe, but the pacing is not good
i like the general vibe and people bustling around the train station.
after a while I tried to fill up the station with as many visitors as possible by always "departing" train as soon as people got off, but nobody could get back an yet. this made the game a bit stressful and I could not get the station to clear again.
after a certain length of the train station, for my taste the game needs a bit more automation, so i dont have to constantly scroll back and forth and spam click every visitor. maybe like hiring a janitor that fixes machines and cleans up after the trash.
also if the game was a bit more slow paced i would love to just observe the passengers going about.
Oh yes, the current demo isn’t really designed for handling too many people. With a lot of passengers it can definitely get stressful, which isn’t the direction I’m planning to take. :D
Agreed. I have plans to add more facilities that allow automation, as well as upgrades that make existing facilities more reliable.
Additionaly I’d like to include an idle mode, so you can let the station run in the background and simply watch passengers come and go.
Thank you for your feedback!
hi! i played a bit and i'm a bit confused: i have about 10 vending machines for drinks/snacks and a small shelter but can't buy and place other things like benches, popcorn machines, machines that sell tickets, umbrellas, newspapers..basically all the people need i have to satisfy by clicking on them, is that right?
and why is it possible for me to click on the whistle when after a certain time the train leaves on it's own? it doesn't seem to have an impact at all even if i click it too early and the boarding is not complete yet. (i think it's even faster for me as a player to not let the people board the trains, so they spend more time on the platform).
for the machines i'd liked to have an indicator when they can be clicked on because they have some money in them.
ps: the purr of the station cat is very cozy
Hi! :) thank you so much for playing and for your feedback!
You’re right, currently the needs are already in place, but the facilities to satisfy them don't exist yet. I will think of a way how to make the next update less confusing but still showing that more content is coming.
Regarding the whistle: releasing the train with it can make you slightly faster, so you wll get more passengers overall, but it is not necessary to do so.
I agree, and I already have plans to add more indicators and explain the needs more clearly. :)
For the cat, I’m also considering giving it an effect radius. So when it purrs, nearby passengers may give you some bonus hearts <3
Love the look and feel!
However the building options and placement felt limiting. There is no way to destroy buildings or position them differently on the grid.
I totally agree, a lot of content is still missing since this is just a short prototype I made in about 2 months. In the next version I’m planning to add more building types for different needs, along with decorations and upgrade options. Later on I also want to add customization features.
Really glad you already enjoy the overall feel :3
Loved it, I would very much buy a full version
❤️
Very cute little game. The visuals are especially pleasing, as well as the sound design. It makes me want to travel to a small countryside town :)
Thank you! Happy that the cozy countryside vibe came through ☺️
